Jerry Mulligan (Gene Kelly) is an American ex-soldier who stays in post-war Paris to become an artist. He then falls for Lise Bouvier (Leslie Caron). However, his art comes to the attention of Milo Roberts (Nina Foch), a wealthy heiress, who is interested in more than just the art.
